Address
(2nd
Asia Professional Rescuer Competition 2010)
17 December
2010
Dr.
Bhichit Rattakul
Executive Director, Asian Disaster
Preparedness Center
The common goal for all disaster
management organizations in all countries is to reduce the loss of
lives and
properties. Simulations and drills are just some of the
important tools for the disaster prevention and mitigation
so as to
prepare the local communities and the relevant government agencies to rescue
to any types of disasters.
However,
special attention needs to be paid to the frequency of drill in order to
develop the necessary skill and
competency among rescue teams.
It is a great pleasure for me to
welcome you all to the Asia Professional Rescuer Competition. We are highly
appreciative
of the Fire and Rescue Association of Thailand for its
consistent organization such important competition
with the attendance of the
rescue teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, United Kingdom, and Thailand
during 17-20 December 2010. Additionally, this competition is the excellent
opportunity for you to evaluate your skills
and to identify your strength
and weakness in order to further learn and develop your expertise.
On behalf of Asian Disaster
Preparedness Center, I would like to congratulate you all for
this opportunity
to be part of the important competition. I am sure this gathering would
provide
you the opportunity to share your experiences and learn from each other
in
order to implement our shared vision of creating safer communities for
everyone
